| By profession a skilled surveyor and draughtsman, he bought 2 plots of land in the wild on the banks of the Wyalusing Creek in Bradford Co, Pa, where he built a comfortable home and lived there the remainder of his life. He and his brother Benajah were both "remarkable for their principles of justice, integrity and honesty". He surveyed much of Bradford County and located many of the towns and villages there. In 1796 he bought 2100 acres of land which he cultivated and improved. He was a man of great strength of character and firmness, and was warm and ardent in his attachment to friends. |
